The AFT/B Fluid Friction in Pipes Unit, designed by EDIBON, gives students hands-on experience studying how fluids behave as they move through piping systems — one of the most fundamental concepts in fluid mechanics, mechanical engineering, and industrial maintenance. Using five pipe sections of varying diameters, materials, and roughness levels, students measure friction coefficients, investigate pressure losses across different valve types and pipe fittings, and compare multiple flow measurement methods including Venturi and Pitot tubes. The unit includes a self-contained Basic Hydraulics Feed System with an integrated tank and centrifugal pump, creating a fully closed-loop water circuit right out of the box — no external water supply needed.edee
